San Diego, California, is a coastal city located on the Pacific Ocean. It is the second-largest city in the state, after Los Angeles. The city is home to many major attractions, including SeaWorld, the San Diego Zoo, LEGOLAND California, and other world-class family entertainment centers. With over 70 miles of pristine beaches, San Diego is also known for its mild climate. Compared to other areas of the U.S., the climate in San Diego is moderate, with an average year-round temperature of 70.5 degrees Fahrenheit.

The city is a popular destination for tourists and residents alike. Tourists can visit the many parks and beaches that ring the city. Among these parks are Balboa Park, which is a cultural center, and the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier turned museum. There are also numerous art galleries and artist studios.
Downtown San Diego has experienced urban renewal since the early 1980s. A new high-rise district is currently under construction. Other new developments include the Gaslamp Quarter, which is undergoing a revitalization.
Most of the population of San Diego is Hispanic. According to a Pew Research Center study, the most dominant ethnic groups in the city are Hispanics and non-Hispanic whites. Although these groups make up the largest portion of the population, they are not the only ones. They also comprise the largest group of people under 18 years old.
The city has more than 100 identified neighborhoods. It is also home to a number of universities and colleges. One of the most prominent is the University of San Diego. Another is National University. Others include Point Loma Nazarene University, Woodbury University, and Alliant International University.
There are several public libraries in San Diego. Some of these are run by governmental agencies, while others are run by colleges. Additionally, several libraries have been designated as specialized libraries.
Despite its relatively small size, San Diego has several professional and semi-professional teams. Several college athletic teams are also based in the city. The San Diego Padres, the National Hockey League’s San Diego Mariners, and the NFL’s Chargers are some of the teams that call San Diego home.
Although it is known for its sunny weather, San Diego has a rainy season. This is typically from late December through mid-March. Rain can be heavy or light, with some days having very little rain.
